Nutrition Plan

Together, we will create a customized nutrition plan tailored to your unique goals and needs, and I’ll teach you how to adjust your plan using feedback from your body.  I don’t want to just make a plan for you, I want to empower you with the knowledge and skills to create and modify your plan.  No super low calorie diets here.  Your plan will accommodate your unique needs and preferences to ensure that it’s both effective and enjoyable for you.

Lifestyle Intervention

Great health requires more than just eating the right food- it’s a whole lifestyle.  I’ll help you develop a lifestyle plan that’s realistic for your schedule, taking into account your family, work, and other obligations.  I’ll be there to help you create solutions to your healthy lifestyle challenges. . . like how to get a good night’s sleep, how to incorporate more movement (that actually feels good), how to destress effectively, and how to discover exercise that you enjoy (yes, it’s possible even for those who “hate” exercise.)

Habit Development

It’s one thing to learn about nutrition and lifestyle changes.  Actually making those changes is a totally different ballgame.  I will guide you through the behavior change process helping you apply your nutrition knowledge so that you don’t stay stuck doing the same thing you’ve always done, longing for different results.  I’ll hold you accountable while also teaching you simple steps to make habits stick.

Meal Planning Protocol

My favorite math teacher often said “failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”  Yes, it’s cliché, but it’s only cliché because it’s true!  Having an effective meal planning and prepping system in place is one of the secrets to success.  When you haven’t adequately planned and prepared, you succumb to the whim of your appetite, which often means fast food or convenience foods.  And while there’s nothing wrong with the occasional fast food dinner, allowing it to become a frequent habit can sabotage your health goals. An essential part of the Pure Nutrition & Wellness nutrition counseling program is teaching you how easy establishing a meal planning and prepping routine can be so that your daily nutrition is spot on!

Skills for Control Over Emotional Eating / Food Cravings

Few of us have been taught the skills to tolerate intense food cravings and emotionally-driven urges to eat without over-indulging.  While I believe that ALL foods can be part of a healthy balanced diet, emotional eating, mindless eating, and cravings can cause us to eat well beyond our caloric needs and this is a major obstacle that prevents you from achieving your health goals.  I’ll equip you with all the tools you need to resist cravings and end the emotional eating cycle you’ve been stuck on.  You’ll learn how to experience cravings without running for sugar. . . or wine. . . or chips.  You’ll develop skills to eat when you are physically hungry and stop when you’ve had just enough.

Nutrition counseling is a life changing experience.  I’ll go beyond providing nutrition education and creating a your customized plan.  I’ll also address mindset issues that pop up and hold you back.  We all have blindspots, areas where we need to make changes, but we just can’t see it clearly on our own. . . you can’t change what you aren’t aware of, so as your nutrition coach, I’ll help you remove your blindspots and master your mindset so that you can achieve and maintain your health goals!

Nutrition Counseling Options

 I offer session-by-session or discounted packages.  Your insurance carrier may cover nutrition counseling with no out-of-pocket cost to you. 

Insurance

Pure Nutrition & Wellness is currently in-network with BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina and Aetna. Nutrition counseling services may be covered in full by your insurance.  However, coverage and benefits vary based on your diagnosis and specific plan.  I recommend calling your insurance company to verify your benefits.  More information can be found here

Initial Assessment

We’ll begin the counseling process with an in-depth health assessment.  During this initial assessment, I’ll gather detailed information about your current health, medical history, nutrition habits, body image, overall lifestyle and current goals.  Then we’ll begin laying the ground work for your wellness plan.

Follow-up Sessions

The follow-up sessions are tailored to your individual needs and include the development of your customized plan, nutrition education topics, and counseling / coaching to support habit change.  During these sessions you can expect to learn more about nutrition and wellness, and increase awareness about what has been holding your back so that you can shift away from self-sabotaging behaviors and establish habits that support your goals.
